Hector focuses his practice on patent litigation, patent prosecution, and intellectual property counseling. Hector has represented clients in patent litigation matters nationwide involving a wide range of technologies. He has secured positive results for his clients through jury trials, summary judgments, and early negotiated settlements. Hector has also represented clients in front of the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and has led and argued several appeals in front of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
With a background in electrical engineering, Hector has technology experience in the fields of electronics, semiconductors, networking, telecommunications, e-commerce, and software. Prior to attending law school, Hector worked as a product engineer, coordinating the introduction of new integrated circuit designs into mass production in the semiconductor industry for products in the areas of communications, modems, and radio frequency systems. In addition, Hector has experience working with semiconductor processes, testing, packaging, and other manufacturing technologies.
Hector has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer, 2013-2020. Prior to founding this firm, Hector practiced for over 16 years at an AmLaw 100 law firm, where he was an equity partner for five years, specializing in litigation and resolving technology disputes for a wide range of clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. While Hector was in law school, he was a member of the Thurston Honor Society and the Order of the Coif, as well as the Senior Managing Editor of the Hastings Law Journal.
